Arkansas Interfaith Power & Light started out as the Ark. Green Faith Alliance in 2007, organized as a state affiliate of Interfaith Power & Light in 2008, and was established as a nonprofit 501c3 in 2009.

Early on, Ark. IPL earned awards from the Arkansas Sierra Club and the Arkansas Wildlife Federation.
Once fully established, founding members held a news conference and prayed at the Ark. State Capitol.
Early efforts included conferences, workshops, Earth Day celebrations, energy efficiency proects, solar installations, planting gardens, and more.
